Beef liver (and other animal livers) are extremely high in vitamin B12 and are great tools to fight a B12 deficiency.
Note below that 100 grams (about 3.5 ounces) of beef liver has 29 times the recommended intake of vitamin B12. It is also a great source of other nutrients. Try to eat liver two or three times a week until your B12 levels increase. You should begin to get your energy back and if you have suffered from depression you may find that, indeed, liver is a great food to fight depression.

  1. I always think of you when I have my liver quota for the week!

  2. I really like liver, & my kids don’t mind so much but my husband abhors it. Therefore in my house we eat liver for lunch. Since i don’t like to go all out cooking at lunchtime, we mostly eat it in the form of pate. I boil the liver, fry onions in a ton of reserved bacon fat, put some red pepper slices under the broiler for a bit, then blend it all up with some mayo & homemade Worcestershire sauce. We like it immediately w/chicken liver. Beef liver needs a day to mellow out, but after that: bring on the veggie sticks & crackers!

  3. Hi,
I know it can be difficult to buy some liver. I buy mine in Allens of Mayfair online butcher. Or you can go to their shop in Mayfair, if you want to buy it straight away.
