I really dropped the ball on this contest over the summer. It has just been a ridiculously busy season around here. We had some great contest entries and we had a super funny one I still haven't posted and will post in the next day.
It's not that I need laughs because I am deep in a depressive hole. Thank goodness that is not the case.
Our business has a seasonality to it and when I am knee deep in the contract research, my life becomes very focused and serious. In the last six weeks I am getting so much done that I can hardly believe it myself but, honestly, I cannot remember when I last laughed and I certainly have not had a big belly laugh in the past six weeks. Working ten to twelve hours every single day of the week doesn't leave a lot of time to find amusement.
In fact, the only breaks that I have taken have been to move my body around outside. I am clearing the north side of our property of brush like I did this past winter with my great new chainsaws. But that project hasn't brought me a lot of laughter either. Just this morning I confirmed a small poison oak rash on my leg and time will tell if I got lucky with this small rash or if it's the beginning of something much bigger. Luckily back in February some people on this blog tooled me up with preventative measures and treatment measures for poison oak. The prevention seemed to be going well but last week I got a pretty large scrape on my leg, possibly by a poison oak twig. (Note to self: wear pants out there.) And my point is that I have even more need to laugh if I am going to be itching up a storm over here.
I think what I'll do this evening is watch Johnny Carson Classics as I wind down for bed and try to get in the mode of laughing, not just watching like a couch potato. Laughing helps our mood. It's a great treatment when you're down and can be great prevention when you are far too busy or stressed.
In that vein, submit some entries to this contest. If you have read this blog much at all you will know that I am fairly easily amused and even find amusement in strange, twisted things, so you really can't lose.
There are also free books to be had here and those books are in production now. This is your opportunity. Later when you are bellying up to pay for the book, don't kick yourself for not entering some off-beat rock group into this contest. Read more about the contest (pay no attention to that deadline). Submit your entry via the contact page on this website.
